Best Exhaust/DP
I am looking at exhausts. I definitely want a turbo back with out cats -- who needs 'em. Now my question for you is, which will not only give me the best horsepower gains; but also the best sound.
I dont want stealth. I want my neighbors to know when I am coming down the road. With that said, I want the loudest exhaust which wont catch Mr. CHP's ever awaiting ear. No honda civic coffee can exhausts.
I want to hear my boxer rumble...
What are the opinions.

But if you want to wake up the neighbors, just run a straight pipe.

If you run completely catless, be advised that your exhaust will stink and can be a dead giveaway to the CHP/Police...
The safest and cheapest bet is to get the new catted (one racing cat) Helix DP, and mate it to the Borla Hush catback.
This setup is made with 3" piping, and will flow the most while keeping noise and smell to a minimum...

I'd like to throw out the combination of a single piece catless downpipe (Helix or Perrin) mated to a Perrin single-tip exhaust system. It fits your criteria for an exhaust:
-Free flowing (no resonator)
-Good Boxer rumble (just installed on a customer's STI; it sounds great)
-Not a canister type exhaust
Just my $0.02 in.
-Soren
Here's a pic of how the Perrin exhaust looks on an STI:
