Anybody have boost creep even with catted dp?

Hey guys,

I have been deciding back and forth whether or not I should install a catless downpipe so I can run Cobb's stage 2 map on my STI. If I install the catless I will have my wastegate ported to prevent boost creep. My other option would be to install a catted downpipe ,probably the helix, and run the map and still most likely not have boost creep since I have the cat.

My question is this: Has anyone experienced boost creep even though they had a helix catted downpipe and if so is it worth it still getting your wastegate ported?

BTW, someone told me that running no cats in California is like a 2-3k fine, can anyone confirm this??

How about this then, can anyone confirm that having having a catted downpipe will greatly prevent boost creep while running cobb stage II?

Running no cats is a federal violation (or removing any of the cats for that matter), although some states could care less (Kalifornia is not one of them).

Unless you are running ungodly amounts of power/huge turbo, why bother going catless? It smells bad, runs like crap, and is a ticket, trip to the state ref, and hefty fine waiting to happen. Not worth it for the extra 5 whp (I dynoed my 02 WRX, with the same power setups, with and without a downpipe cat and that was the result).

My 04 STi with a Vishnu turboback exhaust with a cat in the downpipe section will still experience some mild boost creep in very cold weather. But the fuel cut, CEL, and whatnot were dealt with in the tuning.
