Hey all,
I currently have a TXS TMIC on the 02 wrx. i have a JDM sti hoodscoop and i just need to know if a 04 usdm sti splitter will work on my jdm hoodscoop aplication. my mechanic matched up my stock splitter with the 04 sti and said the bolt patter matches but the only thing is the usdm hoodscoop might be different than the JDM one i have.
I read that APS had an aftermarket splitter that fitted the big TMIC's. Ive done a lot of searches and couldnt find anywhere to buy the APS splitter. so far i learned they arent made anymore, anyone know of any other options i can try?
thanks

Whoa, small world, I just installed my TXS TMIC on Saturday. Like you I searched for over a week and found no 100% sure answer. Supposedly the MRT splitter works, but I couldnt find one. The biggest consensus is to modify the stock or STi spliiter or use no splitter.
I also have the jdm STi hood scoop, and I just removed the splitter all together...Im not really sure you need it on there, as the intercooler sits very close to the scoop. One unscientific test I did was after plenty of really hard driving (high boost, redlining), I parked it and put my hand on the ic and it was COLD! Not warm, not kinda cool, but COLD... actually yesterday at the concord meet an i-clubber said it was cold like a beer, lol.
Maybe one day when I have time I will modify the stock splitter to make a good seal with the ic, there are lots of tutorials/write ups of custom splitters/shrouds/seals on nasioc and clubwrx. Im sure a seal is better than no seal...but HOW MUCH better? Also, without a seal, it looks like more engine heat can escape throught the scoop...
Oh, btw, if you do find one that fits, let me know!
