Smile 06 wrx: im ready for a turbo upgrade! any suggestion? pls look!

i have an 06 wrx: 13,XXX miles

current upgrade:

Cobb ap v1 stage 2
invidia Catted downpipe
HKS hipower catback
stance gr+ suspension

looking into upgrading very soon...(i got the money hehe..). not goin really crazy, just daily driving, couple tracks and drags, not planning to use any race gas, im staying with 91 octane. here are my list so far, pls leave comments.

im looking to close to 300whp.

FP18g 8cm $895
Sti top mount or should i go after market? (aps?) $795
Power Enterprise injectors 850cc $649
walbro fuel pump $99
prodrive 3 port boost controller $99
custom tune $200/hour

So i ask for an estimate at FINELINE IMPORTS IN SANTA ROSA. they where charging me TOTAL OF: $3779 tune and installed. seems alot of money, does this sound right? if i buy them separately i would actually save about 500 dollars and just get it installed and pay labor and still save me a couple 100$

WAT DO U GUYS THING? any suggestion on wat i should DO or GET? pls help!!!!

Wat tuner should i go?

Thanks guys.

You'll get closer to 300whp with the 20g, 18g you will get close but not quite. An STi top mount will work for both of those turbos but an APS top mount would be a nice edition to your setup, the APS front mount is top notch and might work a little better with a turbo like the 20g. There also has been quite a few guys here running these particular turbos on their stock 06 WRX injectors and are getting away with pretty decent numbers. I love those guys at Fine Line and they do a great job, Miles is really good at tuning and Steve is very talented, just look at the cars they have built. Since I do all the work on my own car I save ALOT of money buy doing the installs myself, a turbo swap is a pretty straight forward job IMHO as well as swapping the injectors and intercooler. Anybody who is mechanically inclined should not have many issues, it's just a lot of work and takes time. Try and do the swap yourself and just pay for parts and a tune, it's what I do and your wallet will thank you.

PS- There is a thread like 3 posts down marked "18g dyno reults" here is the link-https://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=156920

I would go with the 8cm 18G from turbochargers.com they are having a sale on them in the group buy section over at nabisco

if you want a good daily driver, I would ignore HP and focus on response and driveability.

my 06 with a vf-39 and an ebay front mount is 260whp/270wtq on a mustang dyno, and it pulls great. Keeps gainging Hp until 6k, then drops off a little before redline. This is fine for me, cause I rarely even rev over 5500 when driving.

Think about what you want from the car, THEN think about the turbo you want.

I finally made a thread for my tune

If this does not give you a general idea how the car behaves (it is a dyno afterall) then I can tell you it pulls great, and holds power as far as I need it. Even first pulls crazy hard.

Again this is my opinion, but the difference in price between a good used vf-39 and an 18g/20g will buy other mods Also, the turbochargers.com "deal" is not working out so well. It seems they are having trouble with suppliers, so they are behind on their 18g orders. Check It Out

pick up the latest issue of subiesport magazine, it has a great turbo guide and will help you decide what you want.
