Arrow '04 Sti Heat Shield Question

How's It Goin, I Have 04' Sti With The Stock Up-pipe, Which I Am Contimplating On Changing To An Hks 200mm Up-pipe Because Of The Fact That The Heat Shield Has Gotten So Hot And Rusted To The Point That It Is Now Detached. Since The Drivetrain Is So Close, All That The Heat Shield Does Now Is Vibrate And Rattle. It Is Hella Annoying!!! Does Anybody Know Where I Can Get A Replacement, Or What To Do. Is The Up-pipe Heat Shield "that" Important??

Please Help Me Out.

Thanks Guys....

I've got a 04 WRX with a TBE and helix up-pipe. After my factory down pipe was taken out, my standard heat shield was gone as well. The main thing I've noticed is the amount of heat soak I have now after running for a while. I've got a Cusco on order for $69 and that fits almost anything and of course is well made. I would say definitely replace it or upgrade it, especially if you plan on changing out the exhaust.

All factory heat shields help contain heat within exhaust system (for more power in the case of the uppipe) and prevent additional heat from being passed to engine compartment and passenger area. Some manufacturers also offer the option of a heat-retaining coating on the uppipe or you could have a shop do this.

Does the HKS uppipe offer a performance improvement over the factory uppipe, which is already catless?
