Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Zero boost pressure

In an instant I went from 18 psi on my vf-39 to 0. As soon as the boost tries to go over 0 psi it makes an odd fluttering noise. I checked all the hoses and checked for leaks and can't find any. I don't have any CELs. My car is an 02 wrx with vf39 with all supporting mods. 90,000 miles on the car and about 25,000 on the vf-39. I have been told the wastegate on my turbo doesn't work right. Could it need a new wastegate? or is the turbo shot? Please help!

Check your wastegate arm actuator. The c-clip that's holding it may have fallen off.

:-( the C clip is still on there. I can manually pull open the wastegate from the arm and it seems to have normal tension. Anything else it could be?

Sorry man... I don't really know what's next to check since you've done check up on the hoses. Best thing to do is have a mechanic check it.

just installed a brand spanking new vf34 (ported), helix 660cc injectors and warlboro 255lph fuel pump into my 04 and im coming across the same problem...almost. when i get on the gas, it hits .04 bar (roughly about 8psi) then it goes flat w/ some sort of fluttering sound as well. but this is with my utec running passive (map 0) on a stock ecu. all supporting mods such as up/downpipe, blitz stainless SUS intake, hks carbon-ti exhaust and TXS tuner lite are on there, but i have a cel. the car drives fine but i think it's because there is no engine managment running and the stock ecu is confused as to what's going on.

OK I figured it out once I took out the turbo. 2 of the fins on the turbine are totally shattered...YUP, and the whole backside of the turbo is caked in oil. So I put back in my td04 . Anyone know if the vf-39 turbine is replacable?
