Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

would this cause rich conditions????

It might. Usally on the wrx there is no trouble though. Try setting it to 50/50 or any combination. Just play with it until it runs better.

there are no mods done to this car yet, i have stuff on my floor....but i wanna make sure that the engine is running tops before i start changing things. it seems the engine is running rich, the exhaust is very black and dirty and the car seems to run rough at speeds on the highway (at least that's when i notice it most) almost like it's not running on all four cylinders. i can't tell if the car is at a loss of power.....so i'm kinda stuck on what to do.

there are 30,000 miles on the WRX and it's a 2003.

i'm thinking i should just take it to the dealer and let then look at it. like i said there are no mods done to it......i'm just wondering if the BOV it causing the engine to run rich.........or maybe it's lean due to the airbox hack and this extremely cold weather.

NEED SOME HELP BOYS.........i have a stage 2 kit sitting in my garage that i wanna install.......but not till it's all clear!!!!

later, riggs
yes the bov is making it run rich and the intake isnt helping. i have both and my car runs like ***. with one its ok but both it is awful. my car use to shake if i was in 5th gear at 40mph until i did the grounding mod

This is true...a 100% atmospheric BOV will cause the engine to run rich when it releases the pressure....its nothing to worry about, and it wont hurt your engine.....besides, after you install your stage 2 stuff, you will need a reflash anyways....which will take care of most of your richness problems. But its better to be running a little rich than too lean anyways.

I don' think that your intake setup has anything to do with it. I have a non stock intake and mine runs like a raped ape. Many wrx owners have done the intake mods that you have done with no trouble. If you don't like the hole in the fender i believe that you can buy a forester block off plate or just get some sheet metal and make your own. Also as ted said there is no trouble with running a little rich although gas prices are very high right now.

The BOV is causing the rich conditions...intake doesnt have much to do with it...with a stage 2 you dont really need a bov ...it doesnt do anything for performance
