Wondering about a BOV? Try this
unhook the recirc hose on the stock valve, and plug it. you are now running 100% atomosphere. If you have no problems, go for it. If you run too rich for your liking, hook it back up and forget about the $150 noise maker...
yeah, I have a $150 noise maker... I felt it was worth it. No preformance gains, but definately loud.

I like check engine lights, But only when they're red.

Now put it back and tell us the difference. It'll actually run better with it on. Running a bov that dumps atmo on the WRX with the stock ECU is no good. Please come back to earth guys.

And if you must have a vent-to-atmosphere BOV, the HKS SSQV is infact superior to all other aftermarket models. The SSQV is directly designed after the Denso/Toyota OEM valve found on the 3S-GTE. What makes the design superior is the fact that the valve pulls open rather than pushes open so the more you boost, the tighter the valve holds shut. Theoretically, it will never leak.
