where is fuel cutoff wire for an 04 WRX located?

Hi guys,

I did a research in this thread but I never really found where exactly is the fuel pump or the fuel cutoff wire is located for the 2004 WRX. If anybody knows where its located at, I would appreciate it if you can give me some info. I wanna play around with it to add some security for my car, (Installing the fuel cutoff switch.

Thanks so much.

Good idea while you live in NJ but a good thief will know his way around it. If fuel cut comes on when they jump it, they just go to the ECU and rip off the wire that the switch is running too.

One other way is to do what I did.. Have a map on your ecu that causes the car to not run at all...

I have 2 maps on my ecutek-tuned ecu. a good map, and a 'dud' map that causes the car to cut out shortly after it has been started.

The thief had better have a spare ecu or ecutek software to pinch this one!

Don't wire it to the ECU. Either wire it to the fuel pump relay in the passenger kick panel or the controller in the trunk behind the passenger side panel. Just be sure and do a good job of hiding the switch.

Yeah, but do you think a car thief would actually spend some time trying to steal a car. There are few screws to take out just to reach fuel cut-off system and the ecu. It'll work but it'll take too much time for a thief.

Not for thieves in NJ and WRX's/STI's... obviously you haven't noticed the sticky in the tri-state forum about how many of htem have been stolen since late last summer.

You can, but the second map usually only changes one parameter (boost) due to memory restrictions. That's why you'll see a low boost and high boost "map" with ECUtek reflashes. You switch between the two by flooring the gas pedal (not while the car is running ) and hitting the defogger switch.

It would be awesome to have a daily driver map and a 100 octane track map, but there just isn't the space inside the ECU to accomplish that...yet.
