Would you please post the year and model of your car? That would assist people in giving you quality answers, and assist me in routing this thread to the proper forum.
Thank you.
Thank you.

do a search and read up on the different exhausts. there is also a suby review section that list several different exhausts.
it would help to find out what you prefer because "the best" will vary depending on what you want.
The Blitz Nur spec R will be the best for someone who wants a loud exhaust, but not for someone wanting to keep attention away from the cops.

^ exactly. best is highly subjective...once you get to full 3" piping, the only distinction would be exhaust note & muffler shape/size. if you run a search for catback or turboback or stealthback, you will see plenty of reviews and posts with details of each setup. goodluck on finding something you like....
Here are 2 links that compare some of the cat back systems http://www.mattrandolph.com/wrx/cat-...omparisons.htm & http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/02...ust/index.html. As for the downpipe I like the Cobb http://cobbtuning.com/wrx/power-i.html#s-downpipe (click on in-depth info) but the DP selection depends on how much HP you want to go for and what turbo you want. If you want to go for some serious HP and a bigger turbo I would go with Vishnu http://www.vishnutuning.com/images/exhaust2.jpg because the wastegate gasses merge with the exhaust farther downstream than a bellmouth design. I dont know that these downpipes are the best for the setups I listed above but these are the ones that I would go with based on what I have read.

I have a borla hush on my car, it looks stealth, isn't too loud @ idle, not too loud when you get on it, but you can definatly tell its there.
Just make sure you get a 3" flange on there instead of the 2.5" one it comes with.

A borla isn't too loud? you gotta be kidding.....Borla's sounds are close to what you'd find on those great old American muscles cars. Some describe it as "deep throat". I call that "diarhea"(someone correct my spelling pls). And no, that sound isn't nice either. And personally I don't want my Subaru to sound like a Mustang.
gstohl, if low noise level is part of your requirement, definitely should check out Fujitsubo's. Too many times cops next to me wouldn't even give me a glance. All my friends say it's really not much louder than my stock pipes.
Power gain-wise, the official website quoted a JDM STI gained about 15hp at peak. This is without changing uppipe/downpipe yet. Of course, these are just numbers, but so are what others tell you.
And no, I don't sell Fujitsubo. I'm just one very happy and amazed customer. It's worth my waiting 1.5 month for shipping from Japan.
PS. Fujitsubo or FGK is the premium brand for exhaust in Japan/Asia. Too bad they're not much exposed to the US market.

If you do get a Fujitsubo, you need a JDM downpipe in order for it to fit correctly.
If you want power and low sound, try the Greddy Evo also.

I second the boral hush. I have it on my 03 wrx and it's not loud at all, plus I like the deep growl I get when I start the car and the fact it looks stock. It doesn't drone at highway speeds which is great for me becasue as much as I like to hear an exhaust note it would annoy the hell outta me to hear it droning on road trips.
Oh yeah I did get ti dyno tested so just do a search for borla hush and you should be able to find the dyno plots I posted.
