First off, Zoeb has the Borla Hush, which sounds nothing like their standard exhaust which is still available for the WRX. Second, no exhaust ever put on a WRX made it sound like a V6 or V8. What you refer to as the "sounds" are dictated by the size, configuration, and number of cylinders along with the exhaust manifold design. The turboback segment can only shape those sounds so much. please spend less time denouncing exhausts you've never owned and more time simply describing the one you have. Thanks.

You will find plenty of people who have used one or the other, but very few who have experience with both. The vast majority of those who are willing to discuss parts they have used will have favorable things to say about them. Just the nature of a message board. My advice for exhausts is simple. If it has a good downpipe flange, 3" tubing, and mandrel bends, it's gonna perform damn near close to as well as the "best", whichever one that is. The deciding factors are cats (whether you want to run one or not is up to you and how comfortable you are with the risk), sound, and looks. You can gather anecdotal statements about them here, but the only way to get the real info on the last two parts is to see and hear some on a WRX for yourself. For that, there are some sound and video clips to be found within i-club, but the best way is to make it to a meet, and see them in person.

Never

start a thread with the word "best" in it. There is no such thing. Blitz Nur Spec, Kakimoto Titanium, HKS, Fujitsubo, etc all make great exhausts. I have the Nur Spec, and am going titanium. Just saving weight. All depends on what you're looking for.

Right on all counts except for HKS. Their downpipe is the single worst one on the market, hands down. Their catbacks are okay.

For stock turbo, it's not that bad. I have a friend who ran 12.9 with a Stromung 2.5" DP that's a flat plate design like the HKS. Only when he swapped turbos did he feel the need for a bellmouth or divorced.

Wow a 12.9 is very impressive with that downpipe and the factory turbo. What else did he have done to the car and was it a WRX?

03 WRX sedan, no weight reduction or anything. Basically all the mods - full stromung turboback exhaust, samco y-hose, UTEC, and a whole lotta road tuning and practice.

Most downpipes replace the downpipe and cat pipe, so usually when someone says "I have a downpipe and catback" they usually do have a full turboback. There are, of course, some downpipes that leave the third cat in place.
