What motor oil is everyone using in their Rex?

What motor oil is everyone using in their Rex?
I've been changing my oil every 5k miles with Redline 5w-30 and Subaru OEM filters. But I'm thinking about trying other motor oils like Royal Purple or Neo Synthetic oil. Anyone hear any good things about those? It's getting hot here in CA lately and want the best protection for the motor, and I'm going to change my oil again for spring time. What oil/filters do you guys use?

i've been using Mobil 1 synthetic w/ an OEM filter. although cheaper than redline, royal purple, etc. it seems to be running pretty well for me. I can't compare with other synthetic oils because, before mobil 1, i've only been using regular dino oil.

I'm using Royal Purple in my Forester XT. Put some RP Max gear in the rear and tranny too. Seems OK, not sure if it's any better than M1 or not though. That's what I use in my other Subaru. I'm able to get RP locally for about the same price as Mobil 1 so I thought I'd give it a try. OEM filters only so far. I change my oil every 3K and waited till 10K to switch to synth. For Dino Oil I like Castrol GTX.
