What to mod first?

I just got a 2003 silver WRX last weekend. I love it! I used to have a 91 300zx NA and I thought it was kinda fast, but the wrx puts it to shame. It was my first time driving a turbo car and I don't think I will be going back to NA anytime soon. Well now I have the modding bug and need some advice.
Should I get a turbo back exhaust first or an ecu reflash? Will I see gains from the turbo back with an ecu reflash? Also if I get the ecu first is it easy to adjust it to get the extra gains from the exhuast? Sorry I'm quite new to the engine modifing scene and am just trying to soak it all in.
BTW I am thinking of going with the Turboxs turbo back exhaust, I love the way it sounds!

get the turbo back first. Getting the ecu reflashed first wouldn't net you any big gains. Once you get enough mods to where you think you are satisfied then get a reflash.
With the new Accessport, made by Cobb, adjusting the ecu is easy, at least that's what I've been told. With the accesport you can download maps from the net and once the maps are loaded into the accessport you can change maps all from the cockpit.
Oh yeah and some ppl including myself would say change the wheels and tires first then move on to engine performance upgrades, but anyway you want to go is fine.

Full turbo back, (Full = Uppipe, Downpipe, Catback). You'll see somewhere around 40whp just on that, the rest is just pickin' what you feel like sayin' you got in your car first =P.

Thanks alot guys. I guess I will be doing the turbo back exaust first (with an uppipe also). Coob reflash or maybe utec after that.
I think the rims look okay right now, I am going to focus on the engine and get it up to par before messing with the rims and tires. The car already has lowering springs on it ad new shocks. I will definately get new rims and tires by the time its over with though.
Also who makes the best guages for the price? I will be getting those after the exhaust.
Keep the advice coming!

make sure to put some miles on the car before you mod the **** out of it
but i'd go full turbo back (up pipe, down pipe and catback) then reflash
then go handling/brakes if you still have cash (tires are part of handling)

Also, an expensive cold air intake and blow off valve are the most important things you can add to your car. They add boatlaods of power. Haha, j/k. They both make cool sounds but don't add or do much until you get a bigger turbo. A turboback would be the best first mod, then an uppipe/reflash.

Thanks alot guys for the advice. Luckly the previous owner had the side skirts paints, put the new suspension parts on, got the carbon fiber side marker covers, and had the mesh fog light covers put on.
What do you guys think of the turboxs turbo back? Also what is th emost popular uppipe? I'm leaning toward the helix flex...

Seeing as you bought an '03, I'm going to assume that you've got some miles on it correct?
There are a good amount of free mods if you weren't looking to spend a lot of money. None of these "free" mods add a great deal of power, but it is the guys that do the little things that are eventually getting the bigger power. All these little power adders build up.
If you are only looking to spend like $200-300, get yourself a downpipe to start with. You'll like the gains plus it is a good building block for the rest of your upgrade path.

An uppipe is a VERY VERY basic pipe. So long as there arent fitment issues with a brand, go with the cheapest you can find, or you can just gut your stock uppipe and see decent results.
If you dont have the $ to go full turbo back all at 1 time most people @ I club say go with upipe first, it will help with spool up and add from 10 to 15 hp. Helix claims 15 hp and that is the upipe I will be going with. I disagree with Dallas P&P about all upipes being the same because if you buy an upipe without a flex joint it will make future work in that area allot harder and if you pay to have it put in it may cost the same as a more expensive one when you factor the labor in. If you plan on adding a bigger turbo in the future and you get a pipe that has the same inside diamiter as the factory turbo inlet it wont work as good (or maybe not at all) as if you had a Helix. Do a search, type in upipe and you will find allot of info that will help you find the answers your looking for. Also not all of the free mods are safe like the 3/16" coupling between the wastegate T and the boost silenoid some people have had problems with them (and some say they dont). Get a boost gauge if you plan on modding anything like that and see what others here think before doing a free mod.
Good luck.
Good luck.
