Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

What to mod first?

get the turbo back first. Getting the ecu reflashed first wouldn't net you any big gains. Once you get enough mods to where you think you are satisfied then get a reflash.

With the new Accessport, made by Cobb, adjusting the ecu is easy, at least that's what I've been told. With the accesport you can download maps from the net and once the maps are loaded into the accessport you can change maps all from the cockpit.

Oh yeah and some ppl including myself would say change the wheels and tires first then move on to engine performance upgrades, but anyway you want to go is fine.

Full turbo back, (Full = Uppipe, Downpipe, Catback). You'll see somewhere around 40whp just on that, the rest is just pickin' what you feel like sayin' you got in your car first =P.

make sure to put some miles on the car before you mod the **** out of it

but i'd go full turbo back (up pipe, down pipe and catback) then reflash
then go handling/brakes if you still have cash (tires are part of handling)

I second that. It is one of the easiest ways to make you car look sleek and set it apart from run-of-the-mill Imprezas.

Also, an expensive cold air intake and blow off valve are the most important things you can add to your car. They add boatlaods of power. Haha, j/k. They both make cool sounds but don't add or do much until you get a bigger turbo. A turboback would be the best first mod, then an uppipe/reflash.

If you dont have the $ to go full turbo back all at 1 time most people @ I club say go with upipe first, it will help with spool up and add from 10 to 15 hp. Helix claims 15 hp and that is the upipe I will be going with. I disagree with Dallas P&P about all upipes being the same because if you buy an upipe without a flex joint it will make future work in that area allot harder and if you pay to have it put in it may cost the same as a more expensive one when you factor the labor in. If you plan on adding a bigger turbo in the future and you get a pipe that has the same inside diamiter as the factory turbo inlet it wont work as good (or maybe not at all) as if you had a Helix. Do a search, type in upipe and you will find allot of info that will help you find the answers your looking for. Also not all of the free mods are safe like the 3/16" coupling between the wastegate T and the boost silenoid some people have had problems with them (and some say they dont). Get a boost gauge if you plan on modding anything like that and see what others here think before doing a free mod.

Good luck.
