Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Question What to do for my first mods

Alright I want to make a slightly modded performance wrx. I plan to not do any show stuff to it since i just finished building one with the celica . I was wondering what yall recommended me to get for a few of my first performance mods. I was thinking an exhaust. If i do that, would i have to get my car tuned since I will have more air going out then in?
I want to go with a full exhaust, cat back. Im not familiar with turbod cars, so I guess id go with an uppipe? What do yall recommend for full exhausts?.....
Next Id want to go with an aftermarket blow off valve, although i hear that the subarus have problems with them. Ive heard a few wrx in my home town and i dont like the bird sound they make. I want something with a deeper sound. I dont care if its too loud, I just want it to sound better.
If yall could please comment on these and tell me what mods to go with first, id appreciate it.
By the way, nothing to do with the clutch yet since i need work on that

Get a helix catless uppipe and downpipe, and a cat-back of your choice. If you do remove your cats, you do not need to get your car tuned, however, you can squeeze a lot more horsepower with a smiple dyno tune.

for a blowoff valve, i would recommend the blitz bov if you want the lower tone. but once again, a bov for the wrx is not needed unless you are increasing the boost significantly

the wrx is designed with an internal wastegate, if you add a bov that vents to the atmosphere is screwes up your a/f

usually, it won't affect your car too much...it will just make your car run rich for that split second you let go of the throttle.
