So I had my WRX dyno tuned last Tuesday GST Motorsports. Mike did a phenomenal job with extracting power from the ECU. My problem, or at least I hope it's not a problem, is that just recently now after I release the pedal after a slightly hard acelleration, let's say from 3rd 4th or 5th gear, I get a flutter sound like a compressor surge and then my BOV does its normal job of releasing pressure. If I'm in 4th gear going around town at 40MPH, I can hear the flutter sound from inside my car when I accell and then let off the pedal and then the BOV goes off like normal. I just took it in to my tech friend over at the Subaru dealership and it could possibly be something loose in my intake but we checked and everything is secure. He also stated that he and his friend's car had the wastegate flutter after they had their cars tuned.

My question is, is that normal and is there anything I should be worried about? The car drives perfectly fine and is still drivable. Should I be worried?

 

well if you just had it tuned your running a higher boost then ever before, you may just be hearing more air then normal coming through the BOV if you think the noise is something not normal give Mike a call he is more then willing to talk to you and figure out whats going on.

 

Thanks. Yeah, everyone is telling me that it seems normal and emailed GST a couple weeks ago and they told me that it sounds normal for it to happen but if it becomes an issue while I'm driving to bring it in and they'll check it out.
