VF34 as daily driver? (was: "reliability")
although they have the ability to make custom maps they're VERY reluctant to do so. I don't know ANYONE who's gotten a custom map out of them yet. I asked for a stage 1 map with the uppipe CEL disabled...they wouldn't even do that. That wouldn't even require tuning...its the same stage 1 maps with a small tweak...but they told me that it wasn't gonna happen. Don't get me wrong, its a nice product and all, but forget "custom maps" from Cobb. Just get whatever's required for the maps they have...that the easiest way to go.
Your engine may be reliable with that setup but the tranny will probably not be. The 4EAT is a different story and is pretty much bulletproof (which is why many people who drag the car use this tranny). Anywhere above about 300HP and you should be looking for a tranny rebuild. Anyway, that is my two cents, the car is only as reliable if the tranny can handle the power the engine is making (the engine is very reliable, the rest may not be).
even if you are if you're sympathetic to it you'll be good.
We've got a 100K mile stg 4 here who beats on his car like you wouldn't belive and 2 11 second wrx's that held up a high 11 second pass on the stock trannys. One with a 2.0 and one with a 2.5.
I've got 10K at stage 3, but I'm doing a preemptive strike by getting the ra set. Plus it'll give me a better gear ratio.
