Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

wrxwagon2b - Get the VF34 if they are the same price, it has better spool charactoristics given it's design.

Something odd - Gruppe-S currently wants $799 for the VF30, but only $749 for the VF34! Usually, most outfits charge more for the VF34. Good deal!

the 30 and 34 are basically the same turbo with a slightly different center section.

In my experience, the performance and spooling characteristics are equal.

isnt the vf34 a ball berring design and the vf30 a sleved design? if so the vf34 is the better deal by far. its what SCC/vishnu uses in the car too.

Yep, what he said, other than that they are identical turbos

I've heard some people say the 30 is actually a more robust turbo.

Actually I believe the difference in turbo to be cartridge bearing on the VF30 and sleave bearing on the VF34 or visa versa (it's a little late here and I don't have the info at home).

I have seen roughly 200rpm better spooling from the vf34 and based on the current price would see no reason to buy the vf30 (which was replaced by the vf34 for a reason in the Spec C cars)
