V-mount setup
Ok, I've decided (after way too much thought) how I'm going to go, But I'd like some suggestions and or pictures. First off, here's what I've decided on. F.Y.I. it's a MY02 WRX
my stock USDM 2.0 WRX block and heads until it blows someday
PE1820
stock injectors
walbro
APS fuel rails
APS TGV delete, with manifold flipped
aux injectors, approx 450cc
ok, so what's on it now, is Syms header, invidia turbo-back, AVO intake, colder plugs and tons more, but the basics leading up to this are covered just to let you know
now the question is, I'm going to fab a V-mount using an AVO frontmount as my core and a PWR radiator. I have an STI grille on order and my friends' shop is ordering me a WRC replica hood with the reverse cowl outlet in front of the scoop. Now, we've got a basic plan and have fabricated some things so far, but I'm curious as to what any of you would recommend or have pics of. Besides obviously the Hyper Lemon. Thanks in advance.
Cheers,
Joel

well, the way we're thinking of doing it, it won't be a perfect V, thereby enabling me to keep my AC. Granted, I live in Oregon and we only need it 3-4 months out of the year, but I hate being hot lol. It's basically going to be an AVO front mount core lifted higher and tilted back with the bottom closer to the engine than the top. And the radiator, we'll probably drop a little lower.
Anybody else with thoughts and suggestions, feel free to chime in.

i was thinking about doing the same thing.. let me know how this turns out! i think turbo magazine or superstreet had some article on how to make a v-mount for an rx-7 a couple monthes back... not too sure but i remember seeing it. it's a lot of welding and fabricated hinges..

I know nothing about the V-mount, however you may want to consider dremeling your stock injectors for full flow (750cc's) or getting bigger ones. The PE 1820 is not a small turbo and your stock injectors are going to be 100% IDC. Overly lean Fuel-air mixture with large powerful turbo equals badness. IMHO of course.
I would be interested in seeing the intercooler piping you are going to fab up to make this work. Trying to do a V mount with an AVO front mount is going to be interesting.

Well, it doesn't look like it's going to be too incredibly tough. We plan on rocking the radiator back and rocking the intercooler at a different angle and obviously getting rid of some of the bumper support, ( the engine will drop and save me anyways). and the piping with the intake manifold flipped 180degrees should make things easier. we might have a custom manifold fabbed though.
