If you plan on spending around a grand why don't you just buy a complete tbe system of the same components?

^^I would pick this one

I have the TurboXS (and love it!) but the highflow cat doesnt really do anything. I can smell the exhuast as well as anyone driving behind me. It sounds awesome and fitment is perfect, I just wish it wasnt so bad for the environment.

Rumor is that the helix catted dp will pass the snffer test in CA for smog.

Mixing and matching is dumb. APS 3" with a high-flow cat.

Why?? A pipe is a pipe. If you get a good deal and they fit, theres nothing wrong with mix matching

Not true about a pipe being a pipe. To me there is nothing wrong with mix and matching but it would be easier to just buy a complete system that has been proven to work as a unit with no problems. My thing is if he wants to spend a $1000 mixing and matching why waist the time. There is plenty of turbo back systems out there of the same components he can have for at or around what he is looking to pay but if that's what he wants...

If you get an all-in-one turboback, it means some engineer put a lot of thought into the path of the exhaust all the way from the turbo to the tip, and the parts and fit needed to make that work. It also means that if you have a problem, you only have to deal with one manufacturer. Having a different downpipe, midpipe and axleback means more opportunities for bad seals, misalignments and manufacturing irregularities.

The APS turboback is around $995; Cobb and other "turbo to tip" designs are a similar price. I think the Borla sounds exceptionally good, but it doesn't mate well with many midpipes, and I have no plans to spend time lying under a hot car looking for an exhaust leak. Why not go with an out-of-the-box solution...

I'm still researching and when I'm done I will buy a complete turbo-back exhaust system from one manufacturer. I figure it will make my life easier. I just have to find the right catless up-pipe, though.

there is credence to buying a complete TBE from one manufacturer, but the TXS + Prodrive is a viable option.

i say choose based on aesthetic appeal and dyno numbers.

as for me, you'd have the steal the TXS + Prodrive off of my car for me to give it up. LOL.

hows the TXS holdin on?.. every picture i seen, they all seen to be discolorating real real bad and quick from the themal heat to almost a rusty look... is the hi-flow cat efficient enough to run on its own to pass emissions?

If you are spending a thousand dollars i would suggest the aps 3" turbo back. it's quiet when it needs to be and sounds really really really really good at full throtle.

Mines fine after 15 months ~ 20K miles. I wouldnt worry about the way any exhuast looks (well, except the muffler), its all under the car anyways being exposed to dirt/rocks/sand etc...As long as it doesnt crack or leak its all good. imo the cat doesnt do much, I can smell the fumes.

Can any experts comment on shiny exhausts vs discolored ones? I dont think it matters, but I dont know much about metals...

Any DP will do this. Hot metal will turn colors. Besides, it's under your car, not on your coffee table. The only thing that you want to keep pretty is the exhaust tip.

If I was getting a new exhaust, I would look at either the Cobb catted DP, or the Maddad catted DP with the faux 3rd cat eliminator connected to the factory resonator pipe and a 2.5" axleback (prodrive, etc.). I think that would be the best compromise of fit, finish, stealth, performance, and low dB's. The factory resonator pipe has a big enough diameter to handle quite a bit of power being as far back as it is (unless you want some 300+whp monster), and it smooths out the exhaust tone. The factory donut gasket with the spring bolts also allow flex in the exhaust to help prevent leaks.

Of the two you listed, I would do the TXS/Prodrive since it at least retains the factory spring bolts.
