turbo problem help
yesterday i tried to switch my 02 wrx intercooler to the sti one(06) it didny fit well so i switched it back to stock because i didnt have time custom fit it yesterday. but after i put it back together(everything is connected, checked twice) and i was driving to work my turbo wouldnt stop spooling and way past its limit. it should stop at .09 but it tops out my gauge to .15 and my car is fully stock aside frome the muffler delete and the intake striped down to the box w adrop in filter. i cant stay on the gas, its at insane boost 3000rpm. what is wrong someone please help
and yes it is making alot more horse power, its rediculous but now i cant drive my car because io dont want my turbo or engine to blow. I tired resetting my comp by un plugging the battery and that helped a little but it is still going crazy.
did you accidentally disconnect some hoses? these are some vaccum hoses near the intercooler that go from the turbo/ wastegate and boost selonoid. normally if one of those hoses is loose, youll boost like crazy since there is no restricion on the wastegate.
cool thanks guys, it ws a broken line to the wastegatebut it was still semi on thats why i couldnt see it. and btw how much psi can a stock wrx turbo support semi safely,? 15?,16 at the most ???? i want a boost controller now but then what about fuel delivery. and i have turbobak(catless) and sti top mount with silicone hoses sittn in garage

740cc injectors are way to big for a stock turbo unless there is engine management to scale the injectors.
I've been running 18PSI on my TD04 for about 40K miles, and about 15K miles at 16PSI. I have a total of 81,6xx miles on my car now and the turbo still works, but is leaking oil so I am putting in a rebuilt TD04 and getting re-tuned.
I recently started having fuel delivery issues so I replaced the fuel pump with a mildly used STi pump and it made no difference. I ran 2 tanks of gas each with a bottle of Red Line fuel injection cleaner and now my AFRs are very rich, but will need a tune again.
If you get an MBC, get a hallman RX with the hard spring, and get a professional tune with ProTuner or EcuTek, or even Enginuity(open source free software).
If you're in the bay area or northern California hit up Ed @ EQ Tuning for a road tune. Happiness is guaranteed.
