Need help Turbo problem...

Ok my problem is sometimes my car (2002 wrx stock) doesnt want to boost all the way... It reads about .04-.05 on my boost gauge. and other times boosts normal at 0.08 - 0.09.
Also i hear this weird rattling noise in my engine right before it hits redline. Sounds as if tiny rocks are getting thrown around in my engine. (i am starting to think that this noise is louder right before my turbo wants to stop boosting correctly)

I took it to the dealer and they said i needed a new turbo...Wich i got because they payed for it..

And now im having the same problem again, and id rather not take it back to the dealer who obviously does not know what it wrong with it..
I know there are other people that have the same problem, but no definite fix?

If any one could help me i would really appreciate it!
Im sick of the dealership lol

well its consistant.... like it will stay at the low boost i was talking about for a long time, i can some times get the boost back by doing some freeway driving or just letting the car cool down and going for a nice spin...or it will stay at low boost for long period of times

And im kinda of new to turbo cars so how would i go about checking if it is the waste gate?
thanks

How far are u from Redwood City? Kevin at AutoHQ used to be a master technician for Carlsen Subaru dealership before he opened up his own shop. Take it over to him and he'll tell u what's wrong after driving it.

um i live in east bay its probably 45 miin i think? if the dealer doesnt figure it out ill take it to him. Only reason i say that is because the dealer put it in and im really close to it. But if that fails ill check him out
Thanks for the tip!

if the dealer keeps trying to fix it by replacing the turbo you could always get the car replaced through the lemon law

usually the dealership will start with the most common or easiest to do solution which isn't always the best way to go about things

you said it was stock? i don't see why you would have waste gate flutter......maybe your uppipe cat is breaking apart or your boost solenoid could be crapping out.

the solenoid is probably causing the flutter but flutter doesn't sound like tiny rocks bouncing around your engine bay. i got flutter on my wrx and it sounds basically like when you roll your R's off your tongue. you know what i mean? that's the best way i can describe it!! haha i tried.

lol nice. Yeah its really hard to explain mine. its like a ticking noise. But i need to find a another boost control solenoid to test it with... so if anyones got one that they want to get rid of cheap =)) lemme know. so im going to start with solenoid and if that doesnt fix it then ill check other things..
Thanks for everyones help

if any one else has an idea on the noise let me kow haha?
