Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Which turbo is next!!??

I was under the impression that the vf34 flows a bit more than the 39. I think it would be easier to find base maps for the 34 on a WRX than a 39 as well.

I agree with what has been said. I say get both at that price.

This is all anecdotal...but I think the 39 has a smaller exhaust side (making for faster spool up and reduced efficiency on the top end).

Between the 2, I'd say get the cheaper one because it's all about the tuning. TurboXS just finished tuning a 39 with the regular STage 4 goodies to 341whp on race gas. This actually edges out 30/34's in the race gas department. So to essentially I'm sure there is a minimal difference in spoolup time (very few hundred RPMs) and as per TXS's numbers, they can perform very similarly.

i think the VF39 does have a smaller exhaust side than the VF30/34. i think it utilizes a P17 versus the VF30/34's P18 hotside. also, the compressor housing on the 30/34's are a bit bigger if you were to juxtapose them. if you have a 2.0L then the VF30 would be the way to go. however, if you have an STi 2.5L, then just go for the VF22. that would be my decision in any case.

You will get a little better spool up with the vf39 but sacrafice a little top end. I prefer the top end and the lag will not be that noticable. I would get both and install the vf34 and then turnaround and sell the vf39 for $300 and make a hundred bucks. $500 is the best price I have ever seen for a vf34.

Well how much of an advantage will the 34 have over the 39 in the top end? I've seen the 39 peak at 21 psi (don't know if there's more to be had) and hold 19psi till redline. I'm sure that competes with the 34 in that category. Here's the dyno plot of the 39 on race gas that I mentioned before. 341whp/317tq. That seems like a lot of top end to me.

And it's from this thread on NASIOC: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...highlight=vf39

That's what it says but trust me, it's WHP. You can email TXS if you like but that's how all their graphs turn out. How would a dyno measure flywheel HP anyway?
