Turbo Needs Rebuilding

Hey,

Anyone know where I can get my stock TD04 turbo rebuilt in the bay area? Seems like bearings are going bad.

Thanks,

you can buy a rebuilding kit from certain websites and do it yourself if you want to go that route. I'm not sure of rebuilding shops in the area though

There's a place in Hayward that does Em but I think it's more cost effective on the stocker to buy a working used one.

Ya I would like the route of someone doing it or just buying a working new one. Any thoughts about moving to a vf-39 though?

might as well find a working one. I'm sure the cost of a rebuild could buy you another one. If you go VF, you need injectors, fuel pump, intercooler, and a tune. It's what I want to do in the near future

This would be a great time for aswap, and I have yet to meet anyone who was unhappy with it.

Just a suggestion find a shop you like. I happen to be a GST customer. Call up whatever so you pick and let them know your plans. Often times they know people who may have the parts you are looking for laying around. Then they can install and tune them.

My 06 wrx is vf39 plus all supporting... You will NOT be disappointed
It's work and money. But definatley worth it.
You could buy a used td04 and try and rebuild yours yourself? That's what I would do if/when (knock on wood) my vf39 dies
Or 20g haha

Like the people above said, upgrade or swap out for another you can find some for under100 bucks, not sure what a rebuilt will cost you

I like the vf series idea. I'd go for 43 cause i hear the 39 sometimes crack. But i have upgraded midpipe, catless uppipe, SRI, Full 3in Catless exhaust, Sti top mount, and running cobb stage 2 v3. So i'd have to get injectors, tune, and fuel pump with it. $$$$$. Does anyone know how long these turbos last until they stop working all together? I'm holding boost pretty well right now and i've had the dealer inspect it and it appears to be a bearing or impeller issue.

hmm that's interesting. idk how reliable rebuilds are from other places. I was thinking of going new maybe for at least a td04. thanks for the link and all the suggestions.

Depending the year on your car you won't need Injectors. Stock 06 wrx has 565cc injectors which are good for the vf39. Tune and fuel pump yes lol, it's expensive, but worth it. If you need to trim fat in the budget get an etune. They're 250. But, not as good as a protune. Clark Turner made me a map and it works great! But that's me, there are a lot of stories of blown motors and bad transactions.
