Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Da Worst Playa, you're not completely correct yourself. Rough driving is THE MAJOR factor in tranny wear. Power has VERY little to do with it, unless of course its 600 WHP on the stock tranny. The reason WRX trannys break is because of rough driving, and that only, unless of course its a mechanical defect. Power very, very, very rarely has anything to do with it. People with stock WRXs are constantly breaking their trannys because of they way they launch. And, I don't agree modifying your car is abusing it. New wheels would be a mod. Thats not abuse.

An uppipe/downpipe will void the warranty and pretty much any dealership. I can't imagine why a dealer would honor it with those mods.

Turbo lag is the slowness of the turbo to spool up. You can make it spool up faster and thereby reduce lag.

Pogi, CAIs and Short-rams will not do anythign for the car. See the sticky on CAIs.

Andersonwrx, you can't expect an answer that quickly all the time. It's not like a chatroom.

I do agree that rought driving is a major culprit but talk to any mechanical engineer and he/she will tell you that car parts are designed with a certain level of tolerance. All metals/alloys have a certain strength of material and will hold up to a certain level of force (basic engineering). Parts are designed to withstand upto a certain level of stress before they break. For the majority of people part of owning a sports car is driving it fast and shifting, releasing fast. I know I have to constantly control myself from doing so.....

Actually I don't think you should worry about syncros at all. There are some stupid people on these boards who abuse their trannys and I have never heard anyone breaking their syncros.

Couldn't you simply put your stock pipes back on the car before you brought it to the dealer for warranty work?

Yup, ya could. But if you took it to the dealer with those mods on and especially if the warranty work was engine related, you'd be screwed like Pamela Anderson on her honeymoon...ha...ha...lol sorry, had to say it.
