Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Copied from wrxfanatics:

VF28
This turbo came standard on the STi Version 5. In terms of overall size, it is smaller than the VF22, VF30 and VF34, and about same size as the VF23. Expect flows around 425 CFM at 18 PSI

VF30
The VF30 is commonly considered the best bang for the buck turbo in the IHI VF series line. A relatively new model the VF30 features the same exhaust housing as the VF24 (P18) but a larger compressor side similar to the VF22. The compressor inducer is 47.90mm. The combination of these two parts results in increased output potential without the lag associated with the VF22. Utilizes a sleeve type bearing design. Although it doesn't offer the top end supremacy of the VF22, the VF30 is a great compromise between these unit and the quicker spooling models. This is the ideal turbo for the average customer looking for fast excellent mid-range performance and response. This is not a ball bearing turbo as it utilizes a sleeve type design. Expect flows around 460 CFM at 18.0 PSI

Last time I checked turbos dont give horsepower, they produce positive intake pressures (boost), thus how much power you make (on the same motor) is dependent on two things, the boost you run and the efficency of said turbo. You choose turbos based on boost goals so you can pick a turbo that is efficient at that level and provides the response and spool times you desire. Thats how you choose a turbo, since like I said, they dont "give power", you pick a power goal and figure out roughly the boost levels to get there, and based on you're experience, tuning, and efficency of said snail, you may or may not destroy you're engine in the process.

Many turbo kits are rated for a certain horsepower when considered in regards to a specific platform. This is what he's asking about. How's your horse?

Well if you're talking about previously researched kits yeah, but when you're putting you're own setup together, you can do alot better than most by doing you're own research.

the rex is pretty much stock for now, but my integra is pushing 448whp at 20psi or so using a garrett gt30r (block rebuilt for high-boost obviously)

Which turbo will be best to use on an auto.
Many say the vf28 but I do not find much info on the vf30 since it is still relatively new.

I believe I will get more from the vf30, but I will have to do some upgrading

Thanks for the suggestion so far.

as long as the auto rpm-landing after each shift isnt lower than the powerband of the turbo it wont be any different than for a manual
