Recirculating bypass valves work fine, but they don't make any noise. You only need one if you have a large enough turbo to run 18-20 pounds of boost.

BOVs that are open air come with a plug for the recirc hose.

Not to offend anyone, but, before the BOV "mod" is done, why don't some of us go back to school to retake english? Hahahah j/k. Just leave it stock! If you don't know what you're doing and don't completely understand how these things work, then leave it stock! BOV seems kind of ricer to me. May as well get a vroombox. "Turn your Dodge Caravan into a '70's Muscled car!" YUCK.

K, lets try to get you a clear answer here...

-An atmospheric BOV will vent the air into the atmosphere, thats the "cool" sound you hear...

-Stock BOV, simply recirculates the air, therefore you hear almost nothing

The reason an atmospheric BOV gives your car a moment of rich running is due to the ECU thinking that the air is still being recirculated (WHILE CHANGING GEARS), therefore it throws in the usual amount of fuel, but since youre getting rid of the air, its not there... and your A/F ratio is running rich... make sense?

Also, if you vent atmospheric, YES your turbo will have to spool its way to what you just dumped... Is it working harder? Eh... not really... we're talking a fraction of a second...

Now about BOVs helping the longevity of your turbo... Sure, it can be true... because if the excess air causes your turbine blades to spin backwards, you can eventually damage the turbo. BUT, given the stock BOV and the stock boost levels, youre not going to ever have to worry about that... So functionality wise, the stock valve does a wonderful job or it wouldnt be OEM equipment

Next... The Worx Tuning Dual Stage, WONDERFUL product if you MUST have the sound... there are two holes in the unit, and when you are running low boost (under 3k rpm) and you shift... the piston(of the bov) only travels far enough to reveal the first hole which recirculates the air, as a plumb back unit... Now, lets say youve got a girl in the car, and you think the pshhh sound will make her wet (i hope you have plastic seat covers...) You simply boost higher... shift around 4-5k, and you get a solid KSSHHHH from this unit... Because this time there is enough pressure to cause the piston(of the bov) to travel far enough to reveal BOTH holes, so you get a little plumb back, and anything excessive is vented to atmosphere... and youve got a creamy girl sitting next to you... make sense?

Have fun with it, as the WORX idealistically will not cause your car to run rich, and its very adjustable to your preference... you wont have any idling issues or anything... I believe GFB makes a 50/50 also, but Ive heard of some people getting leaks with them... My recommendation is the WORX, but any 50/50 is better than a full atmospheric for your setup...

Happy Driving!

^^^ True, a snorkelectomy will definitely increase the sounds you hear when the BOV recirculates (granted, not as much as an atmospheric, but its a first step if you think itll suffice).... Do a search on it, you have find many threads on this topic

if the stock BOV recirculates the air, then isn't it considered a diverter valve, much like those found in the VW/Audi 1.8t motors?
