Turbo Advice
Ok, this isnt about a Subie but general turbo question. It is for a 1987 Buick Grand National, it dosnt have a BOV. I need some advice. This is my second shot TA-49 in three years. The max boost that it is putting out is 22 psi. And using alky. I let the car cool off for at least two minutes before shut down. What am I doin wrong? I am going to buy a turbo timer for this next turbo. What else can I do to save my next turbo?
Thanks,
Nick

you're probably getting so much compressor surge that it's messing up the turbo. a bov would help you lots. And according to my uncle, who's the service manager at wakefield buick, all the GM turbo cars were designed like the wrx, as to not need to be turbo timed. what's stock boost on that turbo/car? is 22 psi a "normal" amount of boost to be running?

Unfortunatly it has been cold and rainy since the turbo died so I havent gone out to take it off and see what happened. Stock the car had about 15 psi. It also has an adjustable wastegate. The car dosnt have a stock turbo anymore, so the cool shut off thing applies to me.
