synthetic oil change

Okay, I am going to be doing my own oil change in couple of days. I have done many oil changes on my own in the past but this will be my first on a WRX. When I was trying to install my uppipe, it seemed like the oil filter was easy to get to. What concers me is what oil and what oil filter to use? Should I use Mobile 1 Full synthetic 5-30? What filter?

I use the Mobil 1 ($20 for 5qt jug at Wally world) and the purilator filter (or a fram).

The book says 4.8q or something liek that but when i fill the filter before installing I use the rest in the oil filler and it hits right on the mark.

Have fun and it only takes like 5-10 minutes....mobil 1 drains fast.

OE Purolator is much better than Fram, especially the crap orange one. Now that I'm commuting, I only change it about every 7k. I'll go back to every 3 months once my mileage drops. Subaru recommends 5w30 for the EJ20, and Mobil 1 is my choice because of track record, cost, and most importantly, availability. Castrol synth (not the blend) is supposed to be pretty good too.

well guys thanks for your replies. I have decided to go with Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5w-30 oil and purolator oil filter. And as for tranny and diff, I am gonna go with Mobil synthetic 75w-90. I just followed the scoobymods.com directions with the tranny and diff oil change directions. Not bad. I spent about 70 all together. Not bad.

p.s.-I didnt realize that I needed a 1/2 inch ratchet drive to loosen the rear differential nuts....
