Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

this is how I wanted to go about my mods

1.air flow system (in this order)-BOV, tbe, up, intake, ic hoses (or FMIC if I can ever get the $$$),header, Turbo
2. engine components- I have no clue what needs to go and what is good enough to stay??
I was thinking about a 25 shot NOS system (I'm not all that sure about this one)

any suggestions as to these plans? or any suggestions on specific parts for these plans would be great Thanks.
NO NOS!! thats suicide on a otherwise stock turbo car.

Forget the BOV its just a noise maker and most make the idle very rough. Go with a full exhuast and an upgraded engine map like Cobb stage 2 then you will see good gains.

I think if your looking for moderate gains this would be enough plus i wouldn't go too far with a tranny as weak as the 02's

If you consider more power find yourself a STI tranny before pumping the car beyond the 300hp range.

I've never been a big enthousiast (sp) for NOS. I was just thinking it might be an easy power gain... I've herd about the week tranny in the 02' a friend of mine was running about 310bhp on a stock 02' tranny and he blew out 2nd gear twice... I figured it was because he was a crappy drivier dumping the clutch all the time but i guess not.

I was thinking about a recirculating BOV... Does an aftermarket BOV add any performance or have a benefit over the stock one?

and which or do any Sti Tranny's bolt into the stock clutch or should you swap that out at the same time?
I would think the transmission would but i'm not sure. I'd look it up if you want.

By the time you bolt on a sti tranny you will be replacing your rear differential gear becuase its a 3.90 not a stock wrx ratio (which i'm forgetting atm). And while your at it you should have invested in a better clutch and possibly flywheel. These trannys aren't cheap.

The BOV has no perfomance gains but if you Really must have the chirp soun some people crave i'll sugguest a 50/50 bov. Otherwise just don't bother.

The only other solution to the transmission problem is a stronger gearset which costs nearly as much as a transmission. Especially when you get them installed .

I would start with some wheels and tires. Some rotas and some decent tires (costs around $1000 . THat was one of the first mods i would recomend to anyone. Helps out handling a lot. Then i would do with the up pipe and turboback exhaust (I recomend helix, great price and quality) to get started for power mods. If you feel that you need more power after that then get your ecu tuned. I recomend either Ecutek or cobb. That tune with the exhaust is good for 50whp which should feel really nice.

Before you go out and buy stronger gears you may want to read this https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...?threadid=3540. Let me start off by saying I have no first hand knowledge of this but from what I've read a many trannies with gear upgrades fail because of the way the transmission case flexes.
The link I posted also tells you what you need to do to go with the 6 MT.
