Angry Still CEL problems

Right i hope someone can answer this question for me. I installed hks uppipe and invidia downpipe on my 03 wrx, after about 1000 k i got a CEL. So i did the resistor fix in the EGT plug and reset the ECU. Everthing worked well for a few hundred miles, And then the CEL came on again so i checked the plug, the resistor was still in it?
My idea was maybe i should have put some insulating tape around the plug as heat from the Engine could be affecting it? Well it worked just like before for a few hundred and the same has happened again. Has anybody got any ideas? could it be the downpipe?, is this the problem? and if it is how do i fix it?

Which resistor did you use? Don't you need one for the DP and the uppipe? The uppipe uses a 2.2K ohm at 0.5watts. Use some dielectric grease for a, corrossion-free connection and put it in FAR, nice and secure. Then tap over.

If you installed a catless downpipe and didn't also install a fix for that it will cause a P0420 catalyst inefficiency CEL.
To be sure you should get the car scanned and the code read, before just resetting the ECU again. In CA you can't go to Autozone for a free scan as you can in other states, so ask in your local forum for help from someone with a scanner.

Gruppe S sells the cel fix for the downpipe, or you can make your own mechanical fix or buy one off of someone here on the board. I bought mine off of WRXncrew, pm him and he can hook you up. Basically you get a CEL light on the downpipe because the exhaust gases are hotter than what the sensor would normally read. So this mechanical fix, it shields the o2 sensor from the heat but the sensor will still work properly. I personally prefer this method to cutting wires.

Oh and one more thing, if you get the electronic CEL fix make sure you get the one that matches the year of your car.
