STI intercooler cleaning
Just got myself a STI TMIC and its in need of some cleaning, fins are in great condition no leaks etcwhats the best way to clean them or can you get it dipped in some sort of acid etc to take off all the crap.

It ain't rocket science. The thing is aluminum, it is pretty much impervious to most cleaners. Hit it with some Simple Green Automotive or almost any other engine bay degreaser, spray it lightly with a hose (use a spray head set on mist) and then set it in the sun to dry. I clean mine every 3-5 months this way (but I leave it in the car).
If you want to clean the inside, tape all the holes shut except for the outlet, spray some degreaser inside, rock it back and forth for a few minutes and then dump it out and rinse. Make certain it is TOTALLY DRY before you reinstall it.
