I think the SPT intake has a lot of things going for it compared with other intakes on the market. Just be sure to get the heat shield for the intake because SPT tested it with the shield in place for dyno runs and heat soak testing on the street, according to the free publication Subaru Drive Performance magazine.

Does not need to be tuned. Intakes don't need tuning - it's the ECU that is remapped, if any tuning is necessary. The SPT intake works in conjunction with a companion intake heat shield and a free-flowing SPT catback exhaust. Subaru claims that extensive testing shows that the engine does not need further tuning if these are the only mods. If you have additional mods such as a full turboback exhaust, or upgraded turbo, additional tuning might be worth considering.

Did you buy your car new? You should be subscribed to Subaru's Drive Performance magazine which contains all the info you need on this intake. They do not have this posted at their web site, just a sign-up page to subscribe to the magazine.
