Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

If you're stuck on the GT-R series turbos go the Ultimate Racing(UR) kit....best one on the market, IMHO.

Otherwise I'd recommend the UR T3/T04S kit, quicker spool & more topend than the GT35R & its less expensive.

Ball bearing turbos are completely overrated & overpriced.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, but is this a wise choice for an EJ20?

he said forged motor, so I'm assuming its built properly. A GT35R will be laggy on a 2.0L but high CR forged motor can take it.

That was where I was going, it's going to be laggy as hell.

That's just too much lag for a 2.0 liter. And 28psi, do you expect to run that kind of boost on pump gas? And when's the soonest you can reach that kind of boost, 4500-5000 RPMs? I could never live with that kind of lag.

I don't know what this guy's goals are, but I'm just going to say 18G, and keep it reasonable. It's not a Supra.

For that size turbo you'll seriously want to consider a 2.5L. Even with forged internals the block design of the 2.0L is really inferior to the 2.5L's semi closed deck. At least consider a 2.2L they can be built and stroked. A JDM 2.0 can handle some power, but your still be dealing with the lag. Reconsider.

On the EJ20 powerplant the GT35R will not spool quick and
efficiently like the Mitsubishi TD04H will. For street or highway
driving you mite not like it because it will be laggy.Depite the
set-backs of the GT35R it will make alot more power but,you
will feel the power big time when it does finaly spool.
If I were you I would consider a 16g or 18g instead.

well i aint worryin about the lag the ecu has a anti-lag system which prevents the turbo from despoolin, so i always have at least 8-12 psi b4 i go full throttle. i kno that with the 35r i'll have a lag cuz of the size of the turbo but im lookin for 600 hp, the tranny is a dogbox so i aint worryin about that

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't anti lag pretty much disintegrate a GT35R within a few thousand miles? There aren't that many turbos out there that can run with anti-lag for an extended period of time. And from what I've seen, they cost a few thousand bucks.

And 600HP??? I assume you plan on using the EJ207 block because you'll never come close to that with an EJ205 (USDM) block. Do you mind me asking what you need 600hp and antilag for? At first I assumed you wanted a drag car, then you mentioned the antilag. Time attack maybe?

And I take it you have no intention of driving this on the street (vis-à-vis the dog box)?

Why anti-lag on a drag car? I can't think of any part of drag racing where anti-lag would be helpful. When you launch, you already have the rpms up and the turbo spooled. When you travel down the track, you should not be dropping out of your boost range, especially if your using a dog box gearset.
