I'm not a WRX person, but for your application I doubt you'll notice much (if any) difference. Colder is better, so it may help, but not really. My philosophy is that there's no need to go overboard with the cooling untill you have an engine setup that really can take advantage of it. For example if you are making twice the hp of stock then a tiny percentage increase in power will be more signifigant. In my experience with turbofords most people prefer to upgrade the intercooler way after adding other performance parts.

any boosted engine will produce alot of heat and on the subarus with a top mount intercooler you need as much cooling as possible even stock. the turbo will heat up that intercooler at every stop light so a nice spray of water on harder take offs sure would help the power and keep the knock away. with the cheap (high priced gas ) we get here in california knock can happen very easy.
