Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

So many questions... NewB!

Question So many questions... NewB!

Okay I'm new to the sooby world but loving it. I roll an 05' wrx and have some money to put into it... First I'm going for a turbo back exhaust from XS plus an up-pipe. Good/Bad??? I'm trying to stay with one company for my exhaust... I really only know what I read.

1. Are these smog legal?
2. I'm going to get catted but does the up-pipe have to be catted too? I'm trying to avoid having to re-install it for smog.
3. Do I have to tune my ecu after I install my exhaust? Because I don't have a programmer yet...
4. Also what type of engine management should I get? I've got more money than brains when it comes to this car so please help! I've got money just no knowledge!
5. Does anyone know a GOOD tuner in the central valley area? (Modesto) Or anywhere for that matter? And do I just make an appointment with these people or what?

If you plan on putting a TBE on your car, dont think your going to pass smog... legally at least. especially becuase your in modesto. You dont HAVE to tune your car, but your definately going to need an EM(engine management). A perfect EM for you is the COBB AP(accessport). A lot of all these answers will be found if you search. i know i didnt answer all, but good luck.

1st two mods.

Modify your stock air box for 'cold air' (search snorkel delete here or Nasioc). Then replace mid-pipe and your muffler with your choice. Stromung mid-pipe and muffler would be a good start. And reset your OEM ECM. Then go back to searching, reading and studying! Sooooo many choices after that.

Oh yeah, then drive as fast as possible AWAY from Modesto (go North OR South, it does not matter!). Name: rotfl-animated.gif
