snorkus removal=less boost???
Hey guys...well, took out the snorkus yesterday and love the sounds, but I'd swear (actually I know for a fact) my boost is now lower in all gears. However, it's gotten a little warmer in the past few days as well...
Anyway, just wondering if anyone else has seen this or heard of this cuz it sure don't make no sense to me

Mods...Cobb stage 2, Helix UP/DP, Samco IC hoses, HKS Hyper and now the snorkus...

Yeah, I know it's probably the weather and unrestricting, derestricting....crap, how would you say this...definintely wouldn't cause a drop in boost. Just seemed weird and wondering if maybe the computer is compensating for the easier breathing or if I might have left something loose and forgotten about it.
Anywho, take it easy....

Stop over thinking. Snorkles/silences are useless...worthless... they keep grandma's happy and young boys wanting more turbo whine. Doesn't affect performance. MAYBE air flows a bit more smoothly, but not enough to affect anything... including power.

Actually, I wasn't really concerned about not getting more power (like mentioned I like the new sounds). What I was concerned about was a drop in boost pressure measured on my gauge. As mentioned earlier I think it just happened to coincide with a warm stint....

yah, I gotcha... when I said "power" I was refering to the "boost pressure". Unless you've advanced your timing or something a drop in boost will result in less power.
OK so... I think we agree: warm weather

You removed the Snorkus... do you have any cold ram air coming in? I'd guess not as much as before, especially if you've removed the front ram air housing.

Gaaah, it's not ram air. It's just an intake front part. There is just as much air in the fender as there is above the radiator where the air is normally pulled. If you look there is a small plastic part that covers the front part of the intake over the radiator. Even if you remove that plastic thing it wasn't designed as ram air. Why would you want to ram air into the turbo fan anyway. To gain even a slight amount of ram air pressure you'd have to be going like triple digits and even then it would be very little. Nothing like the amount of boost the turbo gives. Not only that, why would you put a ram air intake in front of all the twists and turns, silencer and airbox that both have holes in the bottom? There is no appreciable pressure from the stock intake. Removing the silencer just grabs air sooner with less silencing form the snorkus, possibly colder at idle (no air wash from the front radiator) with a little less restriction.
