Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

Yeah, by all means, if he thinks its slower put the snorkus back in.

It's probably not "slower" per se, but the boost comes more smoothly, earlier. Remember how with the stock intake, it felt as if the boost practically "exploded" at about 3000-3500rpm? With the snorkus removed, the boost starts earlier at about 2500rpm and climbs more smoothly up to its peak at about 3500-4000rpm. With your butt dyno, this smooth delivery may feel "slower" since there's no jolt of boost at the prescribed rev. Pay attention to your tach and see if this applies to you.

the feeling you get will also depend on how you drive. when i took my snorkel thingy(technical name) out i liked the fact that boost came earlier. thats because i like to drive hard. i love to stomp it. with the snorkel in i kinda hated having to wait that extra 500 rpm. . .

das just me.

I took my silencer off about a year ago. Just for a waste of time, I re-installed it about 3 wk ago. After driving it for a year w/o, I definitely noticed a sag in response after RE-installing it. I think the air-scoop over the radiator is the culprit. I added a 3" alloy air horn from the filter box over into the fender. Works great.
