snapped timing belt 2002 wrx need help
Hello
I was driving in 5th gear and my timing belt snapped. Shop I took it to said that my valves might be bent. Said it would cost 5000 to fix. I was wondering what route I should go to keep my baby running. Its a 2002 wrx with helix up pipe and down pipe 120k on the motor. Was thinking about maybe getting a replacement motor. Don't want to spend 5000 if possible. I live in Honolulu HI so shipping is a problem.
Thanks

Yeah you've probably got some damaged valves and possibly a few pistons. But for 5k you could buy a jdm STI engine and swap it in if you can do a lot of work yourself. Good luck whatever you do, but you engine is most likely screwed. If you can come across and wire camera to snake into the spark plug area and check the piston heads to see which ones hit valves.. An idea anyway..

Just look at your options.
Rebuild the EJ205
Swap an EJ257 longblock
Swap an EJ207 longblock
maybe even 2.2T
