making sense now.. thanks Illusion.

so since i bought my 02 wrx in 04 and it was smoged (but according to the chart i didnt need to) would my need smog be in 09?

It didn't come into act until late last year, I had to smog my accord before selling it even though it was only 3 years old then. You are correct 09 is your next smog year.
