resonator removal?
reasonator ?
Is there anything to gain from taking out the reasonator that's after the third cat? Will there be any power gain, will it change the sound, make it louder? I'm getting an axle back setup and want to know should I add a straight pipe from the 3rd cat to the axle back. Thanks for any input.

Why not just get a catback that eliminates the resonator in the process? Yes, resonator removal does make the exhaust note slightly louder - that's the reason Subaru put it there.
It isn't really a muffler. The purpose of a resonator is to reduce certain parts of the exhaust note to make it less offensive sounding.
There can be a slight power gain from a catback, especially if you go with a 3" system and get an engine management reflash at some future date. I don't know if there are noticeable gains with smaller, more restrictive catbacks or axlebacks.
