Removed MBC from 04 with good results

I removed my MBC from my 04 tonight and the car feels much smoother. I originally installed in with 850 miles on the car and have just removed it with 3600 on it now. I kept experiencing surging problems and hesitation when accelerating with no apparent explanation. I then heard about a problem with 04 and opena nd closed loop stuff so I decided to take it off and see what happened. After removing it and resetting the ECU I took it out and played with it. It seemed much smoother, and actually faster than with the MBC. It always felt like the ECU was pulling timing with the MBC installed.

I guess the 04 just doesn't like MBC's. I will not be reinstalling that thing at any time in the future.

basicaly any WRX does not like a MBC. I had one on my car for a long time. I started running a cobb stage1 ECU and kept the MBC in. I ran around with it for a few days and it didnt feel good. I put everythign back to stock and let the ECU handle the boost and the car came alive.

WRXs do not like other things messin with what they want to control

My '02 WRX ran like a raped ape with a bleed MBC on it set to 16psi. I never had any problems with it, but MBC's aren't really as safe as proper EM.

Yeah MBCs are just the most annoying mod evAr. The "controller" part of MBC is all but a lie. Overboosting, fat-finger adjustment, no intelligence. Its a recipe for trouble and headaches. I agree with Scott for the most part... but my EBC has been great. Exact opposite of my description above. If you get an EBC, just be sure its got a top quality solenoid and overboost protection.
