Q? about painting my intercooler

I bought an STi intercooler a few days ago for my WRX, and even though its in good conditions it looks kind of dirty. I washed it a few times but it still looks the same. I was wondering, is it possible for me to paint de IC? I mean, I don’t want it to loose any performance by “clogging “it up, if that is possible to happen. I do plan on giving it a very light touch up and cover up de STi letters with tape. If anyone can clear this up for me I would appreciate it, I’m thinking of doing this tomorrow, so the sooner the better, Thanx! guys
