Optima Red Top Battery?
I am thinking about getting an Optima Red Top Battery but I don't know what model number I need to get. Do you have to modify the battery tray? And do I have to extend the Battery Cables to reach the Polls on the battery? Any help would be great.

I orderd my Otima Red Top Battery just now at "Remy Battery". I got the 35R or on there site is was the 35-925. I got it for $89.44 after shipping great price. Here is the link if anyone wants it. http://www.remybattery.com/350/shope...ies&subcat=166

I just returned a Red top to Costco because the cables in the WRX for the Power wire is to short! Even with the little metal clip disconnected it was to short.
So good luck maybe yours is different than the one at Costco
Super

I think Costco only sells the 35. A 35R will have the posts reversed so that the positive and negative terminals switch places. You shouldn't need to extend your cables if you get the 35R.
You probably got the "universal" model 35/75 which has both the top post and side terminals. On this model the posts are more toward the center of the battery and the positive cable to the starter is a few inches too short to reach the positive post.
Although the regular 35, or 35R as it may be called, is preferable as a drop-in replacement since it works with the existing cables, the 35/75 can be used. It's not an insurmountable problem. For about $5 from just about any parts store, you can get a replacement "starter to switch" cable of the proper length (29-30") and swap it with the OEM one.
I bought the 35/75 from Pep Boys two years ago and at that time AFAIK the 35R wasn't available. Changed the cable and it's been fine ever since.
Other than the terminal arrangement, both batteries are physically the same size and electrically identical with the same specs.

I looked at Optima and then decided on Odyssey PC680 Drycell (15.4lbs). Have had zero problems even with the car sitting for over a two week time period. www.odysseyfactory.com

Same battery, but made for imported cars.
