Opinions on Greddy FMIC

I recently purchased a Greddy front mount intercooler and was wondering what are your opinions on it. greddy states that i need an intake that is of their company. is this true? i really don't like the way that intake looks. also do i have to close the hood scoop if i get an intake (so i don't get water in there)?

not familiar with the greddy too much. i'm sure you can use another manufacturers intake...probably any short ram intake im guessing.

i have never heard of anyone closing up their hood scoop after installing a FMIC. leave it open and let it help to cool the engine. some people have been switching over to this hood scoop, looks pretty cool i guess.

FMIC and intake,

first of all, a lot of people will tell you brand X FMIC won't work with any intake but theirs. I just installed an APS Type R FMIC that even Cobb Tuning said wouldn't fit with my AEM CAI. Guess what? It fits. Wasn't even difficult. Check to see where the piping runs for the Greddy. Bear in mind with solid piping, you don't have much if any "give".

the greddy requires a short ram intake so others may fit, but none are guaranteed except for the greddy airinx.

whats wrong with the airinx kit that makes you not want it?

did you get the V-SPL core or R-SPL?

the coolant resevoir will need to be relocated. you can check out my engine bay pix at members showcase in the gallery forum under my screen name.

I have the 2002 EJ20 swap w/ the Greddy R-spl FMIC.
