Purolator PL14460 is all good....and the flat side of the washer goes against the shoulder of the drainplug....the 'curved' side against the oil pan.

Purolator PL14460 is for the NA motor Subaru is now saying to use the smaller filter on all turbos:

It's all BS......the new 2.5's have the oil cooler lines going the 'other' way and the bigger filter gets too close to them.
If you have an STi or FXT, then you need the smaller filter.....if not....use whichever....I'll continue to use the PL14460
