The stock car cuts boost to 9 psi after 5k rpms so what you are seeing is totally normal for a stock car. If you want the car to make boost after 5k and make real power you have to get a boost controller. A boost controller will hold it at what ever psi you set it at within reason for the small turbo. My car makes a little below 15 psi after 5k and slowly drops as rpms build and the stock turbo runs out of steam. My car made 252hp to the wheels at 6850 rpms with this set up. At 6k where the car used to die it now pulls to redline so hard sometimes I shift late at 7200 rpms .

The car has a crappy flat flange custom 3" tbe, dc uppie, and aem intake as well as the boost controller. An no you can't get your self in too much trouble with a mbc because the overboost fuel cut will stop you from grenading the engine, don't ask how I know. That and the stock turbo can't even maintain 15 psi after 5k rpms. Even still don't mess around with one unless you understand what you are doing.
