Unhappy Octane Booster

Ok so here's the skinny. This might be related to octane booster and might not. I don't know. But my turbo peaks at around 4500 rpm to 5500. At 5500 the turbo looses a great deal of boost. I've had the car for 3 days. And this tank of gas consists of 92 octane and a bottle of octane boost racing formula by 104+. Any ideas folks?

P.S. I've got a boost gauge from the factory so thats how I know the turbo looses boost...but what units is the factory gauge in. My turbo peaks a little under .1 whatever it is and then drops to just over .05.

Boost is supposed to taper off a bit before redline. I see it in PSI on my gauge so I don't know if yours is normal or not.

Ok. If you guys say so. But I didn't notice it before. I mean I'm having to shift at 6000 cause I pretty much stop accelerating. Oh hey btw. I went 120 last night...fastest I've ever been in a vehicle officialy.

Yikes, you're comlaining about having to shift at 6000? Please tell me that is only when you are trying to accelerate the crap out of the car. At 6k it should be topped off there. I have never had very much kick past 6300 rpm. I usually shift right at 6300 (if I need to go fast for some odd reason.) Normally I shift at about 3000 rpm.

I usually shift alittle before redline when I'm "accelerating the crap out of the car" like I so often am. I thought you were supposed to. Yes I usually shift around 3000 - 3500.

Don't worry about the boost tapering off at about 5500 or so. The stock turbo is a fairly small unit, so it'll start struggling for breath when the revs start getting up there. The flip side is that it starts boosting at about 2500 w00t!! We're not exactly S2000s afterall

The top message in this forum is a "sticky" and has "threads of note" in its title. One of the notable threads is titled "Why shouldn't I get a Cold Air Intake?"

You should read this, and all the other threads in there. You'll know lots more about your car when you finish.

an intake won't help with boost up top. a bigger turbo will though also, octane booster is a waste of money. you'd be better off finding a pump with 100 octane unleaded and mixing that in. but if you're able to get 92 octane, that's pretty good stuff as is.
