Engine/Power - EJ20T (pre-2006 WRX and JDM) There is replacement for displacement, it is forced induction - OEM 2.0 liter turbo engines in the USDM WRX. 90-94 Legacy Turbo EJ22 turbo engines can also be discussed here.

No Boost

My car (2002) all of the sudden has no boost. The car runs fine (slowly) and no CEL. I have a unichip. Is this a common problem with a simple solution or something I need to take to someone?
Thanks for any help.
John

Is the car literally running 0 PSI or is boost just low? Do you have a boost gauge?

0 boost, I have a boost gauge and it never gets to zero (always negative).

Did you check the vac lines and wastegate arm? A hose could have popped off or the C clip that holds the wastegate arm might have rusted and broke off. If boost was on target and I lost boost all the sudden I'd guess it was the WG arm.

One more thing. Are you hearing any unusual noises?

Before you take it in run a vac line from the wastegate solenoid to the to the compressor outlet (turbo). This will eliminate the FBC and you should be able to run between 7-8psi (wastegate pressure).

Mo Rex- thank you for your input and I apologize for not getting back sooner. I wasn't to sure what you were saying to do so I was taking it to a local shop and right before I arrived, my boost returned (that was yesterday) and everything seems fine. Maybe the wastegate was stuck open or something. I'll have to wait and see if it happens again.
Again, thank you,
John
