Need help planning first mods
I plan to be buying an 04/05 WRX soon and have begun trying to decide what mods to go with. Currently my plans are to start with an up-pipe, intercooler hoses, K&N typhoon short ram, and engine management in terms of performance mods.
I was wondering if this is a good setup and if the Cobb Accessport Stage 1 would work with the other mods. I would like to use Cobb as my EM in case I ever want to get a DP and go to Stage 2.
Also, would it help to get a cat-back exhaust system? I would like something slightly louder than the stock exhaust to better hear the boxer growl. What other things are good beginning mods (lightweight pulley, etc)?
Thanks for all of the help.

Dont waste your time with the K&N typhoon short ram, it won't do a thing for you until you've got tons of mods. The uppipe is definitly the right place to start. I'd just get a reflash for now and save yourself some $. If you plan to keep modding go for the accessport.
Do uppipe and downpipe at the same time because you have to take the downpipe off anyways to get to the uppipe, and like BlkRX said, intakes suck, it's a waste of time and money til you have a ton of mods. Forget about the pulley too.
No it won't, stick with exactly what they tell you if you choose that route. There are better ems' though

first off, do you plan on going past a stage 2 set up? (full exhaust with EM)
if you do then i say, don't waste your money and just save a bit more for an STI.
if you do plan to be happy with the stage 2 set up then you can check out the review section of this club.
get rid of your cats and the catback is up to you.
cobb and borla make exhaust that are above stock noise, but not crazy.
blitz has one that will probably make you deaf, but sounds freaking mean.

dont get a hks downpipe . . . get a belmouth or divorced downpipe. but back to your question, go with a up pipe first ! cheap first mod, but if you have the money get the up/downpipe combo. Helix a good way to go !
