Planning a fishing trip and need some help!
Hello to all bay area i-clubbers. Im trying to plan a fishing trip for my birthday later on this month around the bay area, but i dont know where to begin.
I was wondering if there are any charter companies that you guys would recommend. Please share from your personal experiances.
Im willing to go all the way down to Monterray. Thanks!

take me with you! i haven't fished in hella deep!
i would check in the phone book for a charter company, i'd guess any of the bigger one's will treat you well.
i went on one about 5 years ago in Bodega Bay, (can't remember the name of the company) but we went out 30 miles to catch rock fish, (red snapper, rock cod, etc...) it took about 3 hours to get to the spot, there's 50 people on the boat, everyone's lines are getting tangled, like 1/2 of the people get sick,(including my self) the fish don't even put up a fight, cause their already brain dead from the change in depth of the water, and they are ugly as hell and have this thoat bubble thing that comes out of their mouth (seeing that made me sick). it was crazy and i'll never forget that trip. but i did get a ton of fish out of it. so long story short, i'd avoid that company.
just thought i'd share, chris

Went salmon fishing 2 years ago off Half Moon Bay... forgot the name of the boat, but it took off around 6 in the morning and got back into dock around 5PM. Was initially getting skunked for a while but then I think the boat drove over a school or something cause we started hitting salmon like crazy towards the end of the day.
check the forums on http://www.tackletour.com too
FYI I heard a recent warning about eating fish caught near the bay area...

They don't offer charters but they know the ins and outs of everything fishing and have ads from charter companies. Even the guys who run the charter boats go there to shop for their bait and equipment. Last time the lady recommended one that leaves out of the SF fisherman's wharf and it was pretty cheap. I'd like to go but haven't gone yet.

There are a few charters that run out of the emeryville marina, too. I went on a few work-sponsored fishing charters out of that location. We went after salmon, striped bass, rock cod, ling cod, halibut, and dungenese crabs all on separate occasions, depending on what's in season.
